Vintage Memories | Harford County Family Photographer

After an extended break from shooting due to my hernia surgery I was SO happy to get my camera back out again for this family.  Ashley and I had been talking for what seemed like forever about getting together for pictures.  Lucky for me she's not only a great mom to four kiddos, but she has a knack for setting up the scene for great photos!  She chose the spot where she and her husband were married, and had everyone dressed and coordinated.  Her children were so well behaved, it made everything easy for me.

February is an interesting time to shoot outside in Maryland.  Normally it's a little dismal and dead/brown so there aren't vibrant colors, but I love the way these pictures turned out with the location.  It really gave the photos the same vintage feel that their wedding spot had.  I thought the kiddos might think it was too cold, but Ashley was right - they were just fine!  It reminded me of how I never noticed the weather when I was younger.  I'm really glad we were able to capture something unique and different that holds more than one meaning for this special family.

Thanks for a great time, guys!  I really enjoyed meeting you - and as promised 4 lollipops are in the mail :)

Down on the Farm {Harford County, Maryland Photographer}

During my Maryland sessions I lucked out and had great weather except for one shoot.  Erin and I went back and forth all day trying to decide if we should go for it or not, then finally decided to reschedule.  We needed a new location too since we were going to shoot in the morning rather than the evening, and I called on my neighbor to see if she would let us shoot at her farm.  Yes, by now you all know what a great neighbor I have and how supportive she has been, and she said yes with no hesitation.  It turns out that changing locations was a blessing because we were able to get some amazing and unique photos of Erin and her husband Rich and daughter Nola.

Nola was right at home right away.  She starting exploring and fell (almost instantly) in love with some wooden cows my neighbor had leaning up against her barn.  She loved them so much there was no getting her to look my way!  Granted, these cows were much more interesting than little old me, but I did need to have her look at the camera for at least some shots.  We needed a Plan B quick, because sometimes you have to punt!  I wish you could have seen us out there.  Rich grabbed the baby cow and took it behind me and voila, she was looking my way!  For ten minutes Rich played with that wooden cow with Erin cheering him on, all of us laughing at ourselves, and getting great pictures of Nola.  I don't think I'll ever forget that moment.

Here are some pictures from down on the farm...

Here's Nola practicing "big sister"...

Nola is so young, but she has such a depth of personality.  I really like this next shot because she showed me something sweet and classic after the excitement wore off.

Erin and Rich...

And some goofing off...

Nola was also my Happy Halloween model, and you can see more pictures of her here.  Erin and Rich, thanks for a great morning.  Here's to hoping your next one is as amazing as your first!

Dance and Dash {Harford County, Maryland Family Photographer}

  The other day I photographed Suzanne and Mike's family and we could not have had better weather.  There was a crisp fall feel to the air, but it was still warm enough to play around and have lots of fun, which is what we did!  Suzanne and Mike have two cute little kids, Cameron and Kieran, that both look so much like their daddy.  Cameron is one of those little girls that will win your heart over before you really know what happened.  Suzanne brought the cutest little tutu for her.  She could be a future dancer!  Here she is playing in some of the warm sunshine we had.

Here is Kieran with his family, full of energy and life.

I love this picture.  Kieran was so interested to see what was in this shed.  Daddy picked him up and he rubbed the window to see if Santa had hidden some toys inside!

Cameron is so close to walking.  This is one of those moments that won't happen for too much longer because she's almost ready to take off.

Kieran was so busy, as almost all children are.  He literally would dash from one spot to the next, examining everything!  When he saw these flowers he just lit up, and stopped everything to enjoy them.

Suzanne and Mike, I had a fantastic morning with you and your children, thanks again!

On the Go {Harford County, Maryland Family Photographer}

I recently had the pleasure of visiting the Land of Pleasant Living.  Yes, this is really Maryland's nickname, and it couldn't be a better fit.  I got to meet little man Alex and his family while I was there for an early morning photo session.

Alex is such a sweetie, and has tons of energy and a great little spirit.  Jason, like all great dads, knew just how to make Alex happy.  Here's Jason doing a little baby wrangling.

Alex was so busy while we were there.  He loved to explore, and found a way to have fun wherever we were.  Sometimes though, he would take a break from the business of pushing his truck or picking the grass for his daddy to give you one of those looks that takes your breath away.

Mom Cynthia suggested we venture down to a spot where Alex likes to play.  Here she is with Alex and Jason along the way.

This picture is one of my favorites.  His tender little eyelashes say so much to me about how sweet little Alex is.  Even in the short amount of time I spent with him it was plain to see that he has so much love to give.

And finally here we are goofing off and having fun!

Cynthia and Jason, thank you so much for a great morning.  It was great to meet you both and spend time with you and Alex.
